Karen Cvitkovich is a Senior Associate for Global Genesis. She has worked as a Senior Consultant in intercultural consulting, coaching, global negotiations and multinational teambuilding for almost two decades.  Karen knows firsthand the negotiations and influence challenges of leading virtually and globally from managing a team of over sixty staff and contractors located throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia.   She has designed and facilitated learning and consultative projects for intact teams, team leaders and individual contributors on subjects including globalization, negotiations, conflict resolution, multinational teambuilding, global leadership and virtual communications.  She has worked closely with executive leadership teams to build team operating principals that link to organizational strategy.  Karen has assisted governmental organizations such as the USDA and corporations such as Walmart and Dell with their overall negotiations strategies internally and with key vendors.  She has developed solutions for a broad range of clients including Biogen Idec, Lego, Boston Scientific, Chevron, Danfoss, Comverse, Dell, EMC, Ernst & Young, ExxonMobil, Fidelity, L’Oreal, Novartis, and Oracle. She has been integral in moving learning within her clients from an “event” to a “process” and her practical approach ensures her sessions have impact in the day-to-day work of her participants.

Outside her corporate work, Karen is a frequent speaker for global conferences including SHRM, ASTD and the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication. She is a member of SIETAR (International Society of Intercultural Education, Training and Research), Women in World Trade, the OD Learning Group and ASTD (American Society of Training & Development). Most recently, Karen has conducted research on “What is Different about Global Leadership” which is the topic of a book that she co-authored with Dr. Ernest Gundling and Terry Hogan, published in June of 2011.  Her more recent book, Leading Across New Borders, was published in 2015.

Karen holds a Master of Science degree in Training and Organizational Development from Lesley University and a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Human Resources from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has experience with a number of psychometrics and is certified on the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Hay Group Leadership / Climate instrument.  Karen is currently based in Boston, MA with her family.
